EXPERIENCE 

Study Abroad 2014

SU Study Abroad Program: Traveled to Grahamstown, South Africa to collaborate with local community partners to implement and evaluate a mutually-designed health education program. Visited local NGOs, attend lectures by SU and Rhodes University faculty and local community experts, and immerse yourself in the history, education, health, and culture of South Africa.

Girls of Excellence Mentor
Atlanta, GA/ Aug 2020- Present

Mentor young high school women on the importance of professionalism, career goals, and self-care. Ensure to involve these young women is service/ community projects within their communities, as well as engage in development sessions to guide them through college and early adulthood.

Stanford, CA/ July 2018- May 2020

Career Objective:

Adaptable professional with 6+ years of experience and a proven knowledge of classroom management, course design, and curriculum development. Aiming to leverage my skills to successfully gain equitable learning for all scholars in America.

LEAD TEACHER

KIPP Strive Academy, Atlanta, GA/ Jun 2020 – Present

Provide rigorous mathematical and character skills to 8th grade math scholars that will ensure academic success. Provide critical thinking, conceptual knowledge and understanding so that scholars can thrive in their future pursuits.

 

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, Atlanta, GA / Jun 2017 – June 2020

Provide rigorous mathematical and character skills that will ensure Algebra II students get to and through college with the resources to thrive in their future pursuits. Provide social and emotional supports for a small woman advisory group, whom I will support for their entire secondary experience.

 

FACULTY ADVISOR

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, Atlanta, GA / Jun 2017 – Present

Served as the resident content and grade level expert. Provided daily feedback on corps member lesson plans, teacher practices, and classroom rigor. Attended and participated in weekly Faculty Advisor meetings/professional development.

 

 

SUMMER SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL COACH

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, Atlanta, GA / Jun 2018 – Jun 2019

Collaborate with TFA to set specific student outcome benchmarks for the specific course. Serve as lead teacher for courses for the initial 2-3 days of instruction. Observe TFA summer corps members teaching each day and provide daily feedback on teacher performance. Collaborate, as necessary, with TFA corps members to identify resources to support instruction. Coordinate with Summer School Administrator and/or Behavior Interventionist with regards to any necessary student discipline. Serve as faculty advisor for one of the following courses: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Chemistry.

 

RESIDENT

North Star Academy, Newark, NJ / Jun 2016 – Jun 2017

·     Improved student achievement and support school-system structures in a co-taught 5th grade mathematics course. Implemented strategies to manifest high behavioral and academic expectations to support student apathy. Provided data-driven lessons while caring deeply about the total scholar.

LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

Delaware Primary School, Syracuse, NY / Jan 2016 – Jun 2016

·     Provided in class support for Reading and Math Intervention. Scaffold material to support bottom 25% of academic graded. Developed and implemented differentiates material to engage all learners and learning styles. Gained student investment by supporting and encouraging data driven responses.

STUDENT TEACHER INTERN

NESBE Teaching Program, Syracuse, NY / May 2015 – Aug 2015

Facilitated dialogues with 7th-12th grade students on mathematics and its impact in education and beyond. Developed relationships with students to remediate skills not mastered during the academic school year.

A two-year professional development experience for high school educators building excellence in teaching. Supporting teacher effectiveness through the development of teacher practices, deepening of pedagogical content knowledge, and discovering methods to provide equitable learning opportunities for all students.
